SOS Summer Associate

Hi my name is Tony Hernandez and I have just graduated from Vail Mountain School and will be attending Lehigh University this fall. I have now spent nine years with SOS, first going through the program myself and then being a Junior Sherpa for three years. This summer I was given the opportunity to work with SOS through Ameri-Corp as a Summer Associate. My occupations during the summer have been various, I have mainly been in charge of cooking for the groups before and after the Wilderness Trips, I have also made several trips to the store to buy food for the groups and their trips, occasionally I have also driven groups to trailheads. The most memorable part of my time as a Summer Associate has been spending time with the trip leaders and playing with the students whether it be soccer or four-square. My time as a Summer Associate has been a great and enjoyable experience.
