Over the past week, I received three great thank you letters from Yampah School District Students who had the opportunity to attend the ESPN X-Games in Aspen in January. The X-Games not only hosted SOS throughout the weekend with a booth in their village, they also invited a group of SOS participants out on the hill for a day.
The participants were all graduates from a Learn to Ride program at Sunlight Mountain this year and were excited to have another day on the hill. The X-Games partnered with Buttermilk to secure rental equipment and lift tickets for all participants. Then, everyone who was there had the chance to ride down the middle of the super pipe, cruise the rest of the mountain and visit the village. Talk about an amazing experience. They had the chance to preview the pipe that the best pro's from around the world later competed on.
The three notes I received are:
"Thank you for inviting us to the X-games. I had fun. We went snowboarding all day and then walked around and looking at all of the shwag and just having fun. When we got there we needed to wait for someone to talk to then we got our rental gear and went snowboarding then ate lunch at the top and met at the bottom to walk around."
"The X-games was fun. I had an adrenaline rush going on the fun park. The lifts were pretty far from the ground. Sunlight was better. At the X-games I fell but got back up and tried . It was awesome."
"I loved X-games, it was fun. I got to snowboard and hang out with friends and got to see the booths. I loved it, it was fun."
Here's a huge shout-out to the X-Games for your continued support of SOS Outreach and the difference that we are making through our programs. Thank you!
Seth
