Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, and through the generosity of The Green Room, we were able to move all of the SOS gear for the Pacific Northwest into a central location last week. As a largely grassroots organization, we often opt for a grassroots method of storage, which means anywhere we can get: volunteers' and supporters' homes, basements, sheds, and closets. However, this method proves to be inefficient when attempting to keep inventory and gathering the clothing at the start of each winter to ship out to our various programs.
Fortunately, we were recently connected with the fine folks at
The Green Room, a huge warehouse in Auburn, WA that primarily houses green coffee beans (it is in the Seattle area, after all). Owners Pat Perkins and Jim Ray connected with the SOS story, and decided to let us store our gear there!
Now the only challenge was to transport all the gear from opposite ends of Puget Sound to the central location in Auburn. With a trusty crew of volunteers, a truck, and a giant cargo van, we made two trips to The Green Room and filled several pallets of jackets, pants, boots, boards, and all the other accoutrements that we need to successfully run SOS Outreach in the Pacific Northwest. Mission accomplished! Next step: laundry and inventory.
Thanks again to Pat, Jim, Rob, and everyone at the Green Room; and Jess, Grant, Maxx, and Paul for all your help. We couldn't have done this without you.
