Thank you to the Winter Dew Tour!!

Breckenridge, CO – The Winter Dew Tour Nike Open announced today that it is donating $8,000 to national youth charity, SOS Outreach. The donation was raised while the Tour was in Breckenridge last month for the first stop of the 2011-2012 season.

On pace to serve more than 5,000 youth nationally, SOS participants are often underserved in that they come from low-income families, single-parent households, may be involved in the court system or demonstrate poor academic achievement. SOS combats the everyday problems these kids face by providing high quality programs that enhance their self-esteem and provide them with opportunities to become leaders in their own communities. By using outdoor activities like snowboarding and skiing as an incentive, SOS teaches life skills kids can use on and off the slopes.

SOS works to build character in at-risk youth by utilizing winter and summer adventure sports as a medium to instill the SOS Core Values—Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Wisdom and Compassion. These values serve as a foundation for all SOS programs.

Working in partnership with the Winter Dew Tour for the third year, students enrolled in SOS programs were given the opportunity to become Dew Tour brand ambassadors, working with the marketing team to promote the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and throughout the surrounding areas. In return for their help, SOS Outreach participants experienced the
Tour, including a meet-and-greet with athletes.

This year, SOS Outreach and the Winter Dew Tour expanded their relationship, raising money for the nonprofit charity via the event’s concert series. The Nike Open featured an evening concert on Dec. 17^th headlined by Yelawolf with every dollar of every ticket purchased going to SOS Outreach.

Over the course of the night, $8,000 was raised and will be contributed to SOS Outreach.
