Seth Ehrlich SOS Outreach Partners with REI Bellingham

SOS Outreach is excited to announce that we've received a grant award from REI Bellingham. The $5,000 award will support SOS' Learn to Ride Program in Whatcom County.

Michelle Hartel SOS Outreach and Eagle River Watershed Council Continue Partnership

Eagle County University students partnered with the Eagle River Watershed Council last year for river restoration projects along the Eagle and Piney Rivers. Students re-vegetated the river banks with transplanted trees and willow shoots. Plans are in the works for another large-scale service partnership with the Council this year. With the Denver Pirate Leagues, SOS Outreach has been the beneficiary organization for both the Spring and Summer Kickball Leagues. It's been an awesome relationship!

Michelle Hartel Final Week-long Wilderness Trips of the Summer...

This morning, we had the opportunity to see off nearly 45 wilderness trip participants in three programs for our final week-long backpacking trips of the season. Youth and chaperones joined us from Eagle County, Colorado Springs, Chicago, San Antonio, Miami, Hawaii, Atlanta, Las Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Columbus, and New York. I stand in a field of tiny purple elephant flowers, yellow, purple & white Daisies and colorful Indian Paint Brushes. A chattering stream beneath me, the warm breeze tousles my hair.
I feel small.

Seth Ehrlich The 2010 Colorado-Eagle River Ride was another huge success.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the road in Eagle County this Saturday, July 24 for another Colorado-Eagle River Ride. The event was another success with over 750 riders enjoying the great weather while cycling for SOS Outreach. Michelle Hartel First Base Camp Program of the Summer!

Our first base camp program of the summer kicked off this morning, serving 17 youth from Summit County, Colorado. Activities will include rock climbing, a peak ascent, fishing, and camping. Students will also explore the history of the Camp Hale valley, and enjoy dinner and a presentation with world class skier Chris Anthony. Seth Ehrlich SOS Recognized by Denver Post Charities

SOS Outreach was one of 12 organizations recently approved for funding through Denver Post Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Organizations included: Bluff Lake Nature Center; Denver Botanic Gardens; Environmental Learning for Kids; Junior Achievement - Rocky Mountain, Inc.; Smart-Girl, Inc. and SOS Outreach.

Seth Ehrlich SOS Outreach Launches Mountain Biking Programs

To kick off the 2010 summer, SOS Outreach participants took to the trail on Vail Mountain Wednesday. Twenty youth from Denver were out on mountain bikes for the first SOS Outreach mountain biking programs. SOS will offer mountain biking program throughout the summer at Vail and Keystone mountains.
