Two SOS supporters, Jes Meris and Quinn Brett, broke the women's speed climbing record for the 32-pitch Nose route on Yosemite's El Capitan. On their journey to the climb, Jes and Quinn gave presentations about their speed climbing goals, and advocated for SOS Outreach. SOS is kicking off our 18th season this weekend in a big big way. In Colorado, 362 kids will be hitting the slopes of 7 different Colorado resorts. 

For kids from Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts (MESA) in Denver the weekend was especially exciting. Karen Nolasco and Paco Holguin joined Executive Director Arn Menconi for a week in Washington D.C. where they met with Colorado Senators Mike Bennet and Mark Udall, as well as Colorado Representative Ed Perlmutter and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. The three of them have been working with the Sierra Club to lobby our state representatives and discuss with them the important role the outdoors has played in their lives.
