Leadership Panel at BMHS 3/15/2011

I really enjoyed the SOS Outreach Leadership panel, where kids I've know for over 10 years asked inspiring questions to 6 Vail Valley Leaders. A child ask "What is our role as youth in the community?" with the response of "to inspire and keep us on our toes". Remember to keep it fresh and look to youth in your community for inspiration!

Sooooooooo Excited

I'm sooooooooo excited for the Eagle County Graduation tomorrow. I'm very proud of my girls. We've all became great friends and I look forward to out summer together. We are planning a trip to Denver to feed the homeless at the Denver Rescue Mission. Afterwards we are going to the museum of modern art. The girls have really gotten into art. We went to Pismo one afternoon in Beaver Creek, when the snow was horrible. They couldn't get enough of it, so we popped into some other art galleries in…See More

Get Out and Spread the LOVE!!!

I've been a big fan of SOS since 1994 when I heard of the programs through articles in the Vail Daily. I was working at Jitters N Shakes (a coffee shop) in Avon, Colorado and noticed that the founder of SOS, Arn Menconi, was a frequenter. I struck up conversation with him and started volunteering the summer after my senior year at Battle Mountain High School. I loved the concept and really enjoyed working with the kids. My first volunteering didn't involve snowboarding, it was actually at the baseball diamond in Down Town Eagle. Realizing that working with kids was my passion, I soon brought the SOS message to all my friends at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. I'm getting married this month and attending the wedding are five of my very close friends whom I met through spreading the SOS Love! My fiance proposed to me on an SOS University ride day, which made that day even more special! SOS and the core values have not only effected the lives of the youth we've worked with over the years, it's also allowed me to live a more fulfilled and passionate life. People who are able to have quality interactions with youth that need guidance and leadership are the luckiest people in the world. So, if you are reading this, please get involved in your community. If not with SOS, make sure it's with something you feel passionate about. But I say, SOS is a pretty RAD way to get involved with the community and make a difference.

Much Love,
Jodi

Starting May 26-June 1, if you buy a combo meal from one of the following Taco Bell locations in Colorado (Eagle, Frisco, Glenwood Springs, Rifle), $1 will go to SOS Outreach. Last year Taco Bell raised over $3,000 through this effort for SOS programs and its hoping to double it this year. If you are near one of these Colorado locations over Memorial Day weekend, stop in, fill your belly and help some local kids get outdoors.See More
