Arn Menconi, Founder and Executive Director Arn moved to Vail, Colorado, in 1991 and founded SOS Outreach in 1993. He is a fully certified snowboard instructor. He served two terms as Eagle County Commissioner from 2000 – 2008. Arn grew up in Chicago and received an undergraduate degree in Communications from DePaul University; later he received an MBA at the University of Denver. He has a 7- and 5-year-old.

Seth Ehrlich, Development Director Seth started with SOS during the summer of 2005. He moved to the Rocky Mountains in 2003 after completing his Public Policy graduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University. Pittsburgh is home for him. Since relocating, he has volunteered extensively to serve youth in the area. SOS is a great complement to his dedication to provide for underserved youth.

Mikayla Curtis, Program Director-Eagle County Mikayla joined the SOS team in September 2010 just as she completed her Masters degree in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, & Peacebuilding from California State University, Dominguez Hills. While completing her degree, Mikayla worked for a Boys & Girls Club and developed her passion for serving at-risk youth. Having grown up in the valley, she is excited to return to her roots and focus on providing outdoors-based and strong character developing programs for youth served by SOS.

Theresa Papandrea, Program Director-Lake Tahoe Theresa started with SOS in October of 2005. Her commitment to providing positive role models for youth attracted Theresa to SOS. Prior and during her work with SOS, Theresa applied her passion for children as a Day Camp employee for the Summit County School District and was an aid for the Kindergarten Enrichment program at Dillon Valley Elementary. Theresa has also worked many years as a youth leader in the county and took a group of high school youth to Guatemala to build stoves and plant trees in June of 2009. Theresa recently took over as the Program Director in Lake Tahoe and looks forward to bringing here passion and commitment to a new community.

Brian Phipps, Regional Program Director-Front Range Upon graduating from Colorado State University with a degree in Business Administration, Brian wanted to find something new and different. He found SOS and started in August of 2008. Brian has worked previously at a summer camp for people with disabilities and has worked as a marketing intern for the CSU Athletic Department. Brian is excited to combine his love of sports and helping others at SOS.

Rob Gray, Program Manager-Pacific Northwest Rob came to Seattle after a year and a half with SOS in the Avon office, including over a year as an intern and a summer Americorps VISTA term. Though his background has primarily been in development, he is excited to jump into programs and have a great winter in the Pacific Northwest.

Krista Wolfe, Bookkeeper Krista's adventures began with SOS Outreach in January 2008. She moved to Vail to "live the ski bum dream" after college and had the opportunity to live here since… now 15 years. Most of her career path has included working with finances, so, as a "stay-at-home-Mom" of two amazing young boys, bookkeeping for SOS is a fantastic balance.

Nicole Fava, Development Manager-Eagle County Nicole graduated from Appalachian State University in 2010 with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in English. In college Nicole worked with many non-profit organizations in the Appalachians fighting “invisible” poverty. Seeing a similar need in Colorado she joined SOS Outreach through AmeriCorps. Nicole is excited to be a part of an organization that provides recreational escape as well as character building to a younger generation.

Rob Rumrill, Program Director-Summit County Originally from Vermont where he studied Psychology and Human Services at Lyndon State, Rob started as a Sherpa for SOS in Colorado before spending a year as the Pacific Northwest Program Manager in Seattle. Rob recently made the move to Colorado and is now the Program Director for Summit County. He is a firm believer that the outdoors is the optimal environment for mentoring and is passionate about helping youth understand the importance of being an active member in their community.

Travis Swaim, Program Coordinator-Eagle County Travis joined SOS as a youth mentor in November 2010 before graduating from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Recreation and Tourism Management and a minor in Outdoor Education. While in college Travis worked as a kids snowboard instructor for Winter Park, was a tutor for America Reads/Counts Program and volunteered as a coach in youth basketball and track. Travis has a passion for the Colorado outdoors and is excited to join SOS.
Nikki Grabowski, Program Coordinator-Eagle County Nikki graduated from Michigan State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy and a cognate in Psychology. While in college, Nikki volunteered abroad in Australia, helping to build a children's outdoor education camp. After graduation, she continued her work with children in the outdoors as she taught outdoor education in both Texas and in Michigan. Nikki has also led a summer camp bicycling trip for teenagers and done conservation work in the Seattle area. Nikki is excited to bring her passion for linking people and the outdoors to SOS.
Sydney Schavietello, Development Coordinator-Eagle County Sydney graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. Sydney has spent a great deal of time working with youth leadership through the Rocky Mountain RYLA programs, as well as worked in various volunteer positions both in Colorado and abroad. She is an avid skier,loves the Colorado outdoors, and is excited to be a part of the SOS team.
Sierra Gatlin, Program Coordinator-Summit County Sierra joined SOS as an Americorps VISTA July 2011. She graduated with Bachelors in Social work from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN May 2011. Sierra really has a passion for serving with at-risk youth and has experience doing outreach in several countries such as Africa and Mexico as well as in Minnesota growing up. She is new to living in Colorado and is stoked to get more involved with the community and youth through SOS!
Jill Bryant, Program Coordnator-Front Range Originally from Florida, Jill graduated from the University of Central Florida in May 2010 with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree in Education, Social Sciences and Non-profit Management. While completing her degree, she spent her summers coordinating and leading youth outdoor education programs Denali, Alaska, and winters as a challenge course facilitator at her university. Jill is very excited to join SOS, an organization that aligns with her passion for connecting youth to the outdoors.
Nikki Pond, Regional Program Coordinator-Front Range Nikki is a recent graduate of Boston College where she studied Human Development and Theology. She discovered her love of the outdoors at a sleep-away camp for kids with disabilities in upstate New York where she worked for five summers. Nikki is new to Denver but has always loved coming out to Colorado, particularly to ski, and she strongly believes in the positive effect that all types of sports can have on children.
Laura Turner, Regional Program Coordinator-Front Range Laura graduated from Colorado College in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History. While attending CC, Laura worked with under resourced youth through a mentoring group called North Boys Enrichment Program. Laura is passionate about outdoor education and has volunteered at various summer camps in Oregon, her home state. Laura joined SOS Outreach as an AmeriCorps VISTA member in August 2011 and is thrilled to combine her love of snowboarding with her commitment towards youth empowerment.
Austin Herman, Program Coordinator-Eagle County Austin graduated from Bethel University in St Paul Minnesota in 2010 with a degree in Communication Studies. After graduating, he taught World History and Geography to 7th and 8th grade students in Guadalajara, Mexico. During his time in college he led trips to Chihuahua, Mexico where his groups worked on a drug rehabilitation center. He also worked with World Relief, where he served immigrants and refugees. He loves to fly-fish, snowboard, and ride his bike. Austin can't wait to combine his interests, heart for adventure, and skills to serve youth in Eagle County.
Bethany Moss, Regional Program Coordinator-Pacific Northwest Bethany graduated from Biola University in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies, a minor Biblical Studies minor in Psychology. Her passion for outdoor education was highly developed while serving as a leader for the Wilderness Challenge program at a local high school. She has also spent a great deal of time working with youth through camps and through art programs fro underprivileged students. Bethany joined SOS Outreach in September 2011 and is excited to contribute to the Pacific Northwest programs.
Payne Schanski, Program Coordinator-Eagle County Payne grew up in Harbor Springs, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan in May of 2010 with a degree in Communication Studies. While in college, Payne worked with kindergarten students as a tutor and mentor as a part of the America Reads program. Payne is excited to integrate his love of sports to contribute to the character development of youths at SOS Outreach.
Sefton Theobald, Intern, Front Range Sefton moved to Denver from his hometown of Evergreen, CO in 2007 and quickly joined the S.O.S. team in the winter of 2009. His first role with the program was an instructor for Jibbin’ for Kids at the local Ruby Hill Rail Park. After one awesome year of this he wanted to become more engaged in the organization and applied to be a Sherpa in 2010. Sefton is currently studying Business Marketing at the University of Colorado Denver, and after realizing how unique, enriching, and rewarding the program is, he undoubtedly chose to intern with SOS in 2011.
Alissa Greer, Intern, Front Range Alissa grew up on the ski hills of British Columbia. She recently moved to Denver and is completing her Masters of Public Health in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto. While in college, Alissa was a youth worker and program coordinator for at-risk street youth. Since moving to Denver she has been eager to become engaged with the community, organization and start working with youth again.
