A nonprofit building character in youth through outdoor adventure

FAQ

How old must a child be to participate in SOS Outreach?
It varies by program, but all our programs are geared toward youth participants between the ages of 8-18. Students younger or older than this range should contact SOS directly for additional information regarding program options.

How can I get my group or child involved in a summer or winter program with SOS Outreach?
SOS currently has programs in eight states around the country, with full-time offices in Seattle, Denver, Frisco and Edwards, Colorado. We merged with Meet the Wilderness in January 2009, so please contact us for information on either winter or summer program opportunities in your area.

Several program coordinators are available to provide details on activities in your area. For more information, contact sos@sosoutreach.org

We also have full-time offices in Denver, Frisco and Seattle. If you live outside Colorado, contact us to determine a good drop-off location. You can email us at sos@sosoutreach.org

How can a youth get involved in the University program? Youth who complete and graduate from our Learn to Ride or Learn to Ski program are invited back the next year for the University program, if it is available in their area. Expect a letter of invitation in September or October.

I don't have an SOS Outreach program in my area, how can we get one started?
If you have a resort in mind and would like to help start a SOS Outreach program in your area, please contact our Global Program Director, Jon Garrou

My child doesn't have any winter sports or outdoor gear, can he/she still participate?
Absolutely. SOS Outreach provides all the soft and hard goods necessary for a child to participate, including jackets, pants, goggles, gloves and hats for winter programs, as well as everything for hiking and camping, including tents, hiking boots, and backpacks.

Is there any cost for students to participate?
Participants in our programs are responsible for a nominal fee for services. That fee covers a portion of our expenses, and SOS Outreach covers the remainder of the necessary expenses, with the cooperation of our corporate partners.
